BLACKFOOT, ID — Potato Growers of Idaho is pleased to announce the addition of BYU-Idaho intern Ben Spaulding to the PGI staff. As communication manager he will write, edit, participate in meetings and represent grower interests. He will work from the Blackfoot office until mid-August, at which time his position will be evaluated.

Spaulding, 22, lives just west of Rexburg. He has worked in the potato fields himself, irrigating and harvesting. With this background he can identify with the growers and understand their needs. During his three semesters at BYU-Idaho he has completed courses in communication, writing, design and economics. Over the next four years Spaulding plans to complete a master’s degree in communication.

“We are excited to have Ben working with us,” shared executive director Keith Esplin. “PGI is working on some important issues, and his skills will assist us in helping our growers.”

Former communication manager Keith Frank is no longer with PGI. Frank was particularly skilled at writing and dealing with the news media.

“We wish Keith the best,” Esplin said. “His skills will be missed.”
